Overview

This 1955 Ford Thunderbird was refurbished and modified prior to WCDM’s acquisition and is powered by a 347ci V8 linked to a Tremec five-speed manual transmission and a 9″ rear axle. The car was refinished in red with a black soft top, and the Ferrari-style bucket seats were trimmed in red leather. Additional equipment includes a Gurney intake manifold and cylinder heads, a four-barrel carburetor, an aluminum radiator, tubular exhaust headers, 16″ Halibrand knock-off wheels, front disc brakes, lowered suspension, a Secretaudio receiver, and aftermarket audio components. This modified Thunderbird is offered by WCDM with a build summary, magazines, documentation, and a clean BC Registration.

The front and rear bumper bullets were removed during the refurbishment and the car was refinished in red with a black soft top and a removable white hardtop. Details include an egg-crate front grille, hooded headlights, fender vents, a hood scoop, chrome bumpers, and a full tonneau cover. Silver Halibrand 16″ slotted wheels wear knock-off hubs and are mounted with staggered-width Kumho Ecsta tires. The car rides on a lowered suspension. Stopping power is supplied by front disc brakes with slotted and drilled rotors.

The dashboard was removed and rewired before it was re-covered in red leather upholstery, which extends to the modified Ferrari-style bucket seats and center console. A factory-style radio was rewired with a vehicle kill switch, and engine-turned trim accents the dashboard, console, and door panels. A Secretaudio digital receiver is mounted in the center console and is linked to aftermarket stereo components. The three-spoke steering wheel frames an Astra Dial instrument cluster housing a sweeping 150-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and supplementary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 10k miles. Total mileage is unknown. Matching upholstery is found in the trunk, and a 10-stack CD changer, amplifier, and battery are fitted behind the side panels.

The replacement 347ci V8 has been fitted with Gurney Eagle Westlake cylinder heads and valve covers as well as a revised intake manifold, an aluminum radiator, an electric cooling fan, a high-volume oil pump, and a four-barrel Quick Fuel Technology carburetor topped with a fabricated hood scoop. The tubular exhaust headers flow to a dual exhaust system that exits ahead of the rear wheels through rectangular finishers. Power is routed to the rear wheels via a Tremec five-speed manual transmission and a 9″ rear axle with 3.90:1 gearing. A single-disc McLeod clutch has been installed.
